Venezia is a Berkeley tradition acclaimed for its great Italian food, outstanding value and family-friendly atmosphere. Chef Cindy Deetz’s inspired menu features a wide assortment of house-made pastas, innovative regional meat and fish dishes complimented by a full bar and eclectic, affordable wine list. Parties both large and small can dine on a Venetian piazza complete with floor-to-ceiling murals, central fountain, and whimsical hanging laundry, or in our intimate “Tuscan Room”, available for private parties at lunch and dinner.
Venezia is one of the few restaurants in town that can accommodate large parties with ease. We have a private dining room that can seat 25 comfortably, and the main dining room seats parties up to 40 in a bustling, festive atmosphere. Wow, what a treat. After a meeting in San Francisco, we returned to our hotel at the Berkeley marina and drove down University looking for a parking spot so we could find a restaurant. That’s right, we looked for parking first…It was Friday night.
We hit upon Caffe Venezia. The place was full (they only had one table left- always a good sign) mostly locals, it looked like. So we had soup and then split a great dish since the portions looked quite hefty to us.
We both loved the food and relished the ambiance, which reminded us of our trips to Italy.
Wait staff super competent and friendly, kitchen with open view from the restaurant looked spotless.
Would definitely return.
We had a birthday party in the back room for about 15 people. It was a lot of fun and the room was very private. Everything tasted great and the sever was friendly and kept checking in. All of our family and friends loved it!
